別に白人男性の南部人には限らないので、この曲でのgood ol' boys clubとは「保守的または偏狭な態度、強い仲間意識とお互いへの忠誠心を持つ男性たちの仲間集団」って感じかな。最近ホモソーシャルという言葉が日本でも広まってきましたが、これに近いと思います。
大体の社会でこういう集団が権力の中心にはいるわけだが、それを「Another gear in a big machine」とサクッと切り捨てるのが気持ちいい。なんだかんだ言いつつ規範に逆らうのは難しいが、Kaceyの穏やかだけどどこか皮肉な歌声が戦う余裕を与えてくれる気がします。
