“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
「It was not the police's first. Men's first, and the police's second.」とも。
Jon: You just flew from Africa to America yesterday, right?
Trevor: Yeah. I just flew in and boy my arms are tired!
Jon: Okay, all right there. Oldie but a goodie. Very nice.
Trevor: No, no, seriously, I've been holding my arms like this since I got here. Yeah, I never thought I'd be more afraid of police in America than in South Africa. It kind of makes me a little nostalgic for the old days back.
Trevor: I've got to be honest, Jon. Africa is worried about you guys. you know what African mothers tell their children every day? "Be grateful for what you have because there are fat children starving in Mississippi." In fact, we are so worried that me and some of my friends in Soweto got together and I told them, I said guys, for just a few pennies a day, you can help an American.
Jon: That's very kind, Trevor.
Trevor: Now they're expecting something from you in return. they're expecting at least a letter a month. If you want, you know what, you can just draw a picture.
Jon: Will you put it up on the fridge? That's nice.
Trevor: Oh and you know what? We wrote a song for you as well. Goes a little something like this
On 18 November, Liberian Robtel Neajai Pailey, a researcher at the School of Oriental and African Studies argued, on BBC Radio 4's Today, that the question "Do They Know It's Christmas" was meaningless, as most of the victims were Muslim. She described the song as "unoriginal and redundant" and said that it was "reinforcing stereotypes", painting the continent "as unchanging and frozen in time" and was "incredibly patronising and problematic." (中略)For Al Jazeera Paley wrote "It reeks of the "white saviour complex" because it negates local efforts that have come before it."
We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller We say to girls: "You can have ambition, but not too much You should aim to be successful, but not too successful Otherwise, you will threaten the man
というChimamanda Ngozi Adichie(「We Should All Be Feminists.」
コーチェラでのライブパフォーマンスで、「We've had enough!」「Suck on my b***s!」
This is a man's worldが流れてきてモヤっとしたことがある。
You see man made the cars To take us over the road Man made the train To carry the heavy load Man made the electric light To take us out of the dark Man made the boat for the water Like Noah made the ark
This is a man's world This is a man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Nothing without a woman or a girl
This is a man's worldとなんども歌い上げた後に「But it wouldn't be nothing / Nothing without a woman or a girl」と続けるのだが、これは彼なりに女性を上げているつもりっぽい。
